My First Basket

I recently made my first basket, which is something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. My wonderful dad gave me all the materials as a holiday gift along with this great book, The Weekend Crafter: Basketry, 17 Great Weekend Projects, which I highly recommend for its descriptive easy to follow instructions that are perfect for a beginning basket maker.

Here are some pics of the process, which was actually pretty quick….

  1. I got gifted that very basket! it’s beautiful, impeccably made and I love it. …and in it, I will place all the other craft “firsts” I’ve been lucky enough to receive from you over the years (which of course I still have safely kept away) — your first crocheted square (pot-holder if you will, you were like 4 years old), first beaded bracelet, first pen & ink frog drawing, first “weenie-baby,” first bead & wire figurine, first set of pen & ink cards, early lithographs, and first amazing stuffed monster you made! You will forever be my artistic muse.
