I recently made my first basket, which is something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. My wonderful dad gave me all the materials as a holiday gift along with this great book, The Weekend Crafter: Basketry, 17 Great Weekend Projects, which I highly recommend for its descriptive easy to follow instructions that are perfect for a beginning basket maker.
Here are some pics of the process, which was actually pretty quick….
so cool! I want one!!!!
don’t worry- there will be plenty more where that came from.. you’re going to end up with way more baskets than you know what to do with.
I got gifted that very basket! it’s beautiful, impeccably made and I love it. …and in it, I will place all the other craft “firsts” I’ve been lucky enough to receive from you over the years (which of course I still have safely kept away) — your first crocheted square (pot-holder if you will, you were like 4 years old), first beaded bracelet, first pen & ink frog drawing, first “weenie-baby,” first bead & wire figurine, first set of pen & ink cards, early lithographs, and first amazing stuffed monster you made! You will forever be my artistic muse.
Amira, I’m so glad there is always someone willing to take and treasure all my subpar first attempts!
wow its awesome, good for you….
