simple circle

Typically when I draw circular drawings, I usually start with something small and build on it with no precise plan (like this piece from last month). However, with this drawing I planned it out fully before coloring it in.

DSC00311I drew this drawing right after seeing all sorts of amazing animals in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka, including this beautiful leopard lounging in a tree:

I’ve been drawing in beautiful inspiring surroundings in Sri Lanka. This little flower is marker and colored pencil.

a birthday present (in progress)

Goldfinch

Today is the birthday of someone very special, and this bird is for her! It’s the first in a series of three.

For those of you interested in my process, I started with a pencil sketch and then went over it in black pen:

I then used a mixture of different materials to add color including marker, watercolor pencil, acrylic paint, and white conte crayon- really, whatever I had around:photo-1

And as usual, my helper attempted to drink the paint water and steal my markers:photo

I don’t draw realistically very often, but here’s an attempted sketch of my uncle.
